Roaster Note
This microlot from Carrancas, Brazil is all about comfort and creaminess. I roasted it to bring out a soft oat milk fragrance with a gentle pecan-like nuttiness that lingers in the cup. As black, it’s smooth and mellow, with a creamy body and low acidity that makes it easy to drink. Add milk, and the nutty character deepens into a pecan-cream sweetness, creating a silky, balanced latte that feels both indulgent and approachable.
Bean Info:
Fazenda Pinhal and is owned by Pedro, João, and Milau Gabarra, sixth generation coffee farmers, who have directed the farm to focus heavily on sustainability and the farming of high grade speciality coffee.
They are hugely respected within the specialty coffee industry both for their excellent coffee quality and also their commitment to sustainability, having won the most sustainable farm in Brazil back in 2019, after moving 100% of its energy to renewable sourced with solar panels on the farm and in 2020 became CarbonNeutral®.
Around 35% of their 914 hectare farm is planted for coffee with the remainder being left either as untouched natural reserve or for any of the various reforestation initiatives being carried out by the family. These include a Eucalyptus forest, a 20ha native forest redevelopment and a rehabilitation and release sanctuary for native birds.
